Plumbing Inspection in McClure, IL

McClure turns over at about the national middle: 20% of its owner households arrived in 2018 or later. Common enough that most people know somebody who has had a report, rare enough that few have read the exclusions in one.

The one-paragraph answer

In McClure, 20% of owner-occupied homes have changed hands since 2018. Whichever side of a sale you are on, the exclusions decide what you know: a standard inspection stops at the visible plumbing and leaves the sewer lateral to a camera survey.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When McClure moved in

An average rate hides two different populations: recent buyers with a report, and long-standing owners without one. The advice for the two is not the same.

Universe: 209 occupied housing units, of which 159 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

Water conditioning systems are excluded by ASHI outright, along with lawn irrigation, fire suppression and clothes washer connections. None of that is an inspector cutting corners; it is the published boundary of the service.

What it is required to cover

Knowing what is required is what lets you read the report properly. A finding against something the standard covers is a finding; silence about something it excludes is not reassurance. Most people read the document without that distinction and it is the difference between two very different pieces of paper.

The full list of obligations is published here. Reading it once is what stops a standard note from looking like a finding.

What to do about it

Where a report says a condition was observed but its extent could not be established, that is the sentence to act on. It means the boundary of the inspection was reached, not that the problem is small.

The two standards are published in full and worth ten minutes: what is excluded, what is covered, and why the drains outside the house are a separate instruction.
