Plumbing Inspection in Glassboro, NJ
Glassboro is settled. Only 12% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later, which means most of the plumbing here has not been looked at by anybody in a long time.
The one-paragraph answer
Homes in Glassboro rarely change hands — only 12% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later — so an inspection there is usually of a house somebody has lived in for years. The buried sewer lateral is still outside both published standards of practice.

When Glassboro moved in
Where houses stay put, an inspection is a rare event, and the report on file — if there is one — describes a building that has since had a decade or more of ordinary use.
| Owner households in Glassboro | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 4% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 8% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 31% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 57% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 8,251 occupied housing units, of which 5,076 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Wells, pumps, pressure tanks, storage tanks and filters are excluded by both standards. On a property with its own supply, the equipment feeding the whole house sits outside the inspection carried out on it.

What it is required to cover
Sump pumps are in scope on both standards — InterNACHI for drainage pumps with an accessible float, ASHI for sewage ejectors and sump pumps. Accessible is the whole qualifier. A float nobody can reach is not a float anybody tested.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
Write down where the main water shut-off and the main fuel shut-off are. InterNACHI requires both locations to be described, and they are the two most useful lines in the document.
Before you accept a report, read what it did not have to cover against what it did. Then decide whether the drains outside need their own visit.
