Plumbing Inspection in Cazenovia, NY

Cazenovia is settled. Only 11% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later, which means most of the plumbing here has not been looked at by anybody in a long time.

The one-paragraph answer

Homes in Cazenovia rarely change hands — only 11% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later — so an inspection there is usually of a house somebody has lived in for years. The buried sewer lateral is still outside both published standards of practice.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When Cazenovia moved in

In a town this settled the report is likelier to matter to a seller than a buyer. Knowing what is there before somebody else looks is the whole of the advantage.

Universe: 3,033 occupied housing units, of which 2,576 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

Fire suppression and sprinkler systems are outside the inspection. In a house that has one, the system most likely to matter in an emergency is the one nobody was asked to look at.

What it is required to cover

Sump pumps are in scope on both standards — InterNACHI for drainage pumps with an accessible float, ASHI for sewage ejectors and sump pumps. Accessible is the whole qualifier. A float nobody can reach is not a float anybody tested.

The rest of what an inspector must do is set out here. It is shorter than the excluded list and it is the half that tells you what a finding is worth.

What to do about it

If you are selling, establish it before somebody else does. The same finding is worth more to a buyer who discovered it than to one who was told.

The published standards settle most arguments: excluded, covered, and the separate instruction for everything past the building.

New York issues no state plumbing license. New York City licenses Master and Journeyman Plumbers through the Department of Buildings; elsewhere in the state it is your own city, town or county. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.

Inspection report in front of you?Read us the plumbing lines and nothing else — we do not want the document. We will route you to a contractor covering your area who can quote the items on it, and you are never charged by us. Beyond the report, Cazenovia is covered for plumbing of any sort.
