Plumbing Inspection in Little Falls, NY

Only 15% of the people who own a home in Little Falls bought it in 2018 or later. Where houses stay in the same hands, systems get older without anybody being obliged to look at them.

The one-paragraph answer

Little Falls is settled, with 15% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When Little Falls moved in

Low turnover means the last inspection on most of these houses is old, and the systems in them have had years to change since. Nothing about a settled town makes plumbing age more slowly.

Universe: 3,367 occupied housing units, of which 2,633 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

Water conditioning systems are excluded by ASHI outright, along with lawn irrigation, fire suppression and clothes washer connections. None of that is an inspector cutting corners; it is the published boundary of the service.

What it is required to cover

Both standards cover the interior drain, waste and vent system, and ASHI asks for the predominant material of the service, distribution and DWV pipes to be described. A report naming one material is describing the majority of the house, not every run in it.

What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.

What to do about it

If you are selling, establish it before somebody else does. The same finding is worth more to a buyer who discovered it than to one who was told.

Before you accept a report, read what it did not have to cover against what it did. Then decide whether the drains outside need their own visit.

New York issues no state plumbing license. New York City licenses Master and Journeyman Plumbers through the Department of Buildings; elsewhere in the state it is your own city, town or county. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
