Plumbing Inspection in Ronkonkoma, NY

In Ronkonkoma, just 15% of owner-occupied homes have changed hands since 2018. A low rate has a consequence people miss: an inspection is the one moment a house gets examined, and most of these have not had one recently.

The one-paragraph answer

Ronkonkoma is settled, with 15% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When Ronkonkoma moved in

A settled town accumulates deferred questions. Nobody has been obliged to look, so nobody has, and the first person to find out is often whoever is selling.

Universe: 13,091 occupied housing units, of which 9,915 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

Clothes washer connections are excluded, which surprises people because the machine is in the house and plumbed into it. The supply valves behind it and the standpipe it drains into were not part of the job.

What it is required to cover

The covered list is shorter than the excluded one and it is not thin. Every fixture run, every toilet flushed, the drain-waste-vent system described, the water heater and its venting examined, the shut-offs located. That is a real morning of work and it is worth knowing it happened.

The full list of obligations is published here. Reading it once is what stops a standard note from looking like a finding.

What to do about it

Ask a contractor what would have to be opened up to answer the question, rather than asking for a number. A quote given without that step is a guess with a figure attached to it.

Everything above comes from documents you can read yourself: the exclusions, the requirements, and why a camera down the lateral is never part of it.

New York issues no state plumbing license. New York City licenses Master and Journeyman Plumbers through the Department of Buildings; elsewhere in the state it is your own city, town or county.
