Plumbing Inspection in Belton, SC
Roughly 18% of the people who own in Belton bought since 2018. A normal rate for a town this size, and normal is where the gaps in a standard inspection do their quiet work.
The one-paragraph answer
18% of owners in Belton bought in 2018 or later, an ordinary rate. Ordinary is where the usual mistake happens, which is assuming the inspection covered the plumbing: the buried lateral is excluded by both published standards.

When Belton moved in
Enough houses change hands here for inspections to be routine, which tends to make people incurious about them. The scope is where the surprises are, and it is published rather than hidden.
| Owner households in Belton | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 6% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 12% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 21% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 61% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 6,488 occupied housing units, of which 5,197 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Wells, pumps, pressure tanks, storage tanks and filters are excluded by both standards. On a property with its own supply, the equipment feeding the whole house sits outside the inspection carried out on it.

What it is required to cover
Both standards cover the interior drain, waste and vent system, and ASHI asks for the predominant material of the service, distribution and DWV pipes to be described. A report naming one material is describing the majority of the house, not every run in it.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
Where a report says a condition was observed but its extent could not be established, that is the sentence to act on. It means the boundary of the inspection was reached, not that the problem is small.
The two standards are published in full and worth ten minutes: what is excluded, what is covered, and why the drains outside the house are a separate instruction.
