Plumbing Inspection in Iola, TX
Iola turns over at about the national middle: 25% of its owner households arrived in 2018 or later. Common enough that most people know somebody who has had a report, rare enough that few have read the exclusions in one.
The one-paragraph answer
In Iola, 25% of owner-occupied homes have changed hands since 2018. Whichever side of a sale you are on, the exclusions decide what you know: a standard inspection stops at the visible plumbing and leaves the sewer lateral to a camera survey.

When Iola moved in
An average rate hides two different populations: recent buyers with a report, and long-standing owners without one. The advice for the two is not the same.
| Owner households in Iola | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 4% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 21% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 29% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 47% |

Universe: 1,210 occupied housing units, of which 1,026 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Visual means visual. Pipe inside a wall, under a slab or below grade is not observed, and neither standard asks anyone to open a sealed access panel to reach it. InterNACHI names polybutylene piping in its exclusions outright.

What it is required to cover
InterNACHI requires the location of the main water shut-off and the main fuel shut-off to be described, and whether the supply is public or private. Those are the three lines worth copying out of the report on the day you get it, because nobody looks them up until they are standing in water.
Worth ten minutes before you read your own report: everything the two standards require, in the order an inspector does it.
What to do about it
Write down where the main water shut-off and the main fuel shut-off are. InterNACHI requires both locations to be described, and they are the two most useful lines in the document.
Both standards are public. Start with the exclusions, then the obligations, and read the sewer scope separately — it is ordered on its own for a reason.
